The problem with drag radials(on the stock torque converter w/ ~2400 rpm stall) is that it's too sticky which means you don't spin and have to wait longer before the turbos reach full boost. With street tires you spin off the line and reach max boost earlier. But the key is to only chirp off the line. If you continue to spin half way down the track, then you're just wasting you time with street tires. But if you can manage to only chip off the line and if you can get the car to hook up once you reach full boost and never spin again, then you've got the best of both worlds. For me, as a bracket racer, I'll sacrifice the 60' time for consistency. That's why my 60' times are like 2.0 to 2.1 but remains constant for the rest of the day. But on street tires, I know I can hit 1.9's. But on any given run, it can also be 2.0's, 2.1's or 2.2's. Consistency goes right out the window. I can't have that!
